Some people just know how to age gracefully!

In contrast, Tim Wakefield shut out the Phillies for eight innings Sunday.

Pretty damn good game for an old man! And against Philly.

And Dice K just trying to get some of us, me included, to eat our words.  Saturday night and Sunday afternoon were the kind of games we have grown (over the past few years) to expect from our team.  They looked great. I must admit I didn’t watch too much of either game, weekend schdule kept me pretty busy all weekend, but I kept my ears open and sneaked a peek when possible.

Papi didn’t look to bad on 1st base Saturday, but I’m sure he is relieved it dosen’t happen too often.

I’d like to thank the Mets for a real good game last night. That would be the one where they beat C.C. and got the win against the Yankees.  Also kudo’s to Arod for striking out with the bases loaded.  Now New York knows how Papi felt friday night. Strange how that kind of thing can happen to the best.

Now down to Tampa. Lets hope the good Mojo just keeps on happening!

Great Weekend for Baseball

First we watched C.C. Sabathia blow his No/No with a hit in the 8th inning. Turned the channed channel enough of the Yankees.

The Sox changed the lineup, and it was very successfull. first Varitek had two home runs, Red Sox's Jason Varitek, left,...Mike Lowell

Then Mike Lowell made a great play at third and and got a hit. This is the way we want to see the Sox play!

“This probably is my last year,” Lowell said. “I’m not 100 percent sure, but I’m well up there.”(Mike Lowell from bostonherald.com) This is not something I want to hear, but I understand.  He looked great Saturday night, but I’m sure he was hurting big time Sunday morning.

Great catch by Jocoby yesterday, these guys played this weekend like the champs we know they are!

Theo can’t wait for next year!

He is not alone, I really didn’t enjoy this past Season, not just because the Sox didn’t make it into the World Series, but for a lot of reasons. One of the biggest being Jerry Remy.  I missed him in the booth.  Just wasn’t the same with Eck. I am really praying that Jerry is fine and gets to announce all the games next year.'It's still early in the...

I loved reading that Big Papi wants to play in Boston until his carreer is over. Also that Theo thinks he is looking just fine.

Now if Theo and the Guys can get it together and sign Jason Bay.

Yes I have avoided mentioning the Yankees winning the World Series.  The first time in 9 years. I guess I’m not a good sport, I really believe for all the money they pay their team they should be winning it every year. I’m really sorry Pedro didn’t pull last night’s game off, it would have been a great way to end his carreer.

Well now the Phillies can join the rest of us and just say ” there’s always next year”!

1 to 1 and on to Philly!

Pedro looked really good last night. Yes I know he lost the game on two home runs he gave out.  And A.J. was just a little better, but for and old guy, Pedro still has his stuff! 7 solid innings, what more could you ask for?Pedro Martinez will get the start for Phillies in tonight's Game 2 of the World Series against his old nemesis, the New York Yankees. In 32 games against the Yankees -- most of which came during his seven brilliant seasons with the Red Sox -- Martinez is 11-11 with a 3.20 ERA in the regular season, and 1-2 with a 4.72 ERA in six postseason appearances. But the numbers don't tell the whole story -- some of Martinez's greatest victories and most bitter disappointments have come against the team he will face tonight. Here's a look back at his career against the Yankees.

When he came off the field in the seventh, with the crowd chanting, “Who’s Your Daddy?” Martinez just smiled. He had to say something to a man in the stands who was holding his daughter in one arm and a beer in another, who, according to Martinez, was saying all kinds of nasty things.

“I said, ‘You have your little girl. I’m a father. I have a little girl. You have to be ashamed. How can you be so dumb?’ ” Martinez recalled.(taken from Nick Cafardo, without permission, of the Boston Globe)

Pedro is still one classy guy! And Yankee Fans, well they speak for themselves.

Okay Philly, no more fooling around, let’s get it together and take the next 3 to end it!

I’ve heard so many negative things about Jason, I don’t know where to start.  So typical of sports. As soon as you have a bad year everyone forgets all the good you did in prior years.

My husband was never a fan of Jasons, I always was. Yeah I saw the 7 bases stolen on him Friday night. He has always been a catcher they love to run on. But, ask any pitcher that has had him catch for him, (except maybe Wakefield). He is the Best.

Be it what it may, maybe his knees are gone, maybe some of his heart is gone, but he still calls one hell of a game.

Do I want him catching the playoffs? Not all of the time, but Lester, definetly.

If this is going to be Tek’s last year behind the plate, then the Sox should pick him up as an advisor to the pitchers.  They need someone like him to teach the other Catchers how to call games.

Yeah, I know it’s just a rant. I’m as frustrated as everyone else that we gave the Yankees a sweep this weekend. But the year is looking an awful lot like 2004.

Toronto the next 3 games.  Let’s wrap this thing up.

Tonight’s the Night!

Who would have ever thought 2 months ago that Big Papi would have 26 home runs before the end of this season? Well I did, I never stopped believing. So when I hear the sportcasters say those things it irritates me.  Papi just got off to a slow start, and all that steroid crap didn’t help. But he is back in the groove. And what better time? Tonight we start the last series of the year with the New York Yankees.  It should be pretty exciting Baseball. And I am really looking forward to it.

I missed most of this week, not feeling good and just couldn’t stay up to watch TV. But I feel better and besides it’s the Yankees.  The only bad thing is Eck will be the color announcer. I don’t know how much of that I can take. I may watch the game with no volume.

Lester starts tonight, Good Luck Jon.

http://char84.wordpress.com/2009/04/Thank God the Yankees have left Boston. We had an incredible game Saturday, and for that I am very thankful, but the rest of the weekend was pretty much a bust.

Although Friday night the guys looked pretty good. The pitching well, I would rather not talk about it.

I was reading a blog this morning and someone blogged to a Red Sox fan that they should cheer for the Yankees the next 3 games, so we don’t lose the wild card spot.  This guy must be on drugs.  We would never cheer on the Yankees, and as long as we win the next three games we have nothing to worry about and could move up 1.5 games on the Yankees.

We have 6 more weeks of regular season baseball. Plenty of time!
