Wakefield became the oldest pitcher in franchise history to win a game. He took the title away from the “Big Cheese” himself, Dennis Eckersley. Eck was 43 years and 349 days old when he won his last game, and Wake is 44 years and 38 days old today!!
Just to make the win that much better it was against Garza. Of all the pichers in Tampa he is the one I dislike the most. His spitting is gross. I can’t stand watching him.
Day off today while they travel to the West Coast, Oakland and Seattle, then back home.
The season is winding down. Doesn’t look like a Championship this year, but stranger things have happen. Beating Tampa 2 out of 3 games, what the he77, It’s not over yet!
I think Gerry Callahan from the Boston Herald and Dan Shaughnessy from the Boston Globe, are the same person.
They both contine to write negatively about the Sox. They won’t give them a break no matter what is going on. Injuries, so what, the rest of the team makes a zillion dollars so we should still be in first place. So what’s the problem?
We still have 31 games to play, that means we are not out of it yet! How about some of that “Home Town Spirit”, if we beat the Yankees, and we beat TampaBaltimore………….well there is a hell of a good chance we will make the wild card. It’s not like we didn’t do it before (2004) when the writers ( see above) had us down and out.
Hopefully it all starts tonight against Baltimore.

Let’s try standing behind them and praying for the best! Who know’s stranger things have happen~
Welcome to Fenway, Tampa
Great Job by Big Papi last night, I think he got the team pumped up to win. Let’s go for a sweep!
It looks like Mike asked to be put on the DL. says his hip is giving him trouble. It could be, but because he hasn’t played much this season, who knows. I just know I wish he was back playing at third base.
The team has changed so much this year, and there are so many guys out on the DL.
Okay, so I never really cared much for him, but this was the year, he was doing great, went into a slump and started doing great again. I tried not to like him, but he made it so hard. I have a record for liking players and having them get hurt. I also have a record for liking players and getting them traded, so I guess were lucky he’s still with the team. Get well quickly Dustin. And I promise I’ll keep it a secret that I like you.
Now Victor Martinez, I’ve liked him since he started playing for us. Sorry.
Great California trip, I have friends and family that were at the Giant, RedSox games. I know they were watching with mixed emotions.
Again we come away with a 1 out of 3 win. Can’t wait to get the Sox home.
Off tonight, then 2 games at home with Tampa Bay, then a much needed second day off and Baltimore comes to town.
Hopefully by next week most of the injured are back on the field.
Pretty damn good game for an old man! And against Philly.
And Dice K just trying to get some of us, me included, to eat our words. Saturday night and Sunday afternoon were the kind of games we have grown (over the past few years) to expect from our team. They looked great. I must admit I didn’t watch too much of either game, weekend schdule kept me pretty busy
all weekend, but I kept my ears open and sneaked a peek when possible.
Papi didn’t look to bad on 1st base Saturday, but I’m sure he is relieved it dosen’t happen too often.
I’d like to thank the Mets for a real good game last night. That would be the one where they beat C.C. and got the win against the Yankees. Also kudo’s to Arod for striking out with the bases loaded. Now New York knows how Papi felt friday night. Strange how that kind of thing can happen to the best.
Now down to Tampa. Lets hope the good Mojo just keeps on happening!
Late game, long game. But when the end result goes our way it’s always worth it. It’s always a little sweeter when we win in Yankee Stadium.
Lowell was approached by reporters regarding being left out of the lineup today, and when he spoke the truth about the way he feels ( and who wouldn’t in his position) the media rips him up one side and down the other. Going from a Golden Glove player to sitting on the bench and then when Tito gets desperate having him pitch hit, what can you expect from him. He sits cold and then they expect miracles.
Mike wants to play, if he can’t play then they should just release him and stop the torture. I love Mike, he has been my favorite player for years, but I am feeling his pain. And don’t be making up lies about him, he has the right to get angry! He hasn’t asked for a Trade or Release, but the Media just won’t let up. They approched him, not the other way around. He’s not Manny!
Back home tonight for two games with Minn. Then on the road again to Philly and then Tampa. What a screwed up schedule. It’s seems hard enough to win this season, and MLB is not making it any easier!
