Not a big deal you say, Well then you don’t live in Boston! Truck Day is the Start of The Baseball Season, it also means Spring is just around the corner!

It’s not like we don’t like winter in New England, but Mother Nature has been cruel to us this year and I think everyone is looking forward to Spring.

The Pitchers and Catchers have already started arriving in Fort Myers.

As I look out at that cloudy sky, through the snow flakes, I know there is hope! ” It’s Truck Day”!

Truck Day is Here!

Truck Day is Here, Anyone Excited?Woo Hoo! Truck Day first, Pitchers and Catchers next, February 17th and then Spring!! It dosen’t get much better than that.

I know people that will be there, never miss it.  I’m not onPitchers and Catchers e one them.  I love this day, the start of the Season, but, I’m not standing in the cold, watching a truck load up with baseball gear. I’ll wait for my friends to blog and add a few pictures.

Happy Valentines Day to all of my blogging friends!

It is a sure sign of Spring!

The New England novelty that is Truck Day will be tomorrow. The team equipment truck is scheduled to leave Fenway Park for Fort Myers, Fla., at approximately noon from Van Ness Street and Gate D

Jon Lester, Jonathan Papelbon, and Manny Delcarmen, have already started working out in Fort Myers.  Pitchers and catchers officially report next Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the 18-wheeler sat outside Fenway Park early Friday morning.

Missing the big storm will make it a lot easier for people to stand on the corner and take pictures of the workmen loading up the truck with Red Sox gear!

I can’t wait for some real baseball news. With nothing going on all the local papers do is speculate on who will be with the team “Next” year? VMart’s contract will be up at the end of the season, will he be the next Jason Bay?  Come on, enough of this crap, can’t we just get the season going? The season will end much too quick.

Do they not know that VMart will be our starting catcher?? That should count for something. And besides Mike Lowell and Tim Wakefield, VMart is probably my favorite player. No more negative talk about him!

I’m not a football fan, but….

Great Superbowl Game!

We have a little tradition in my family, Superbowl Sunday is a Special day.  We set a theme and I cook enough food to feed the family plus anyone who happens to stop by. Yesterday it was Southern Fried Chicken and Pulled Pork.  Of course being Sunday I had to make a Pasta dish, so it was Spinich Ravoli’s with an Alfredo Sauce.  Salad and 3 or 4 Appitizers.  Then the Game.  It’s the only game I watch all season, regardless of who is playing, and of course I have plenty of squares.  I didn’t make any money, but boy did I enjoy the game.  I wanted the Saints to win, and they did. But they also made it interesting. The game really moved, never dragged.  The result, well everyone knows by now. The Saints won the Superbowl.

I find it sad that Nomar is going to retire.  I loved watching him play for the Red sox and was really sad when Theo traded him.  Seeing him back for a game in Boston last year was really great, and I loved the reacation of the fans.  So did he!

The Globe's Dan Shaughnessy describes Nomar's first at bat in an opposing uniform at Fenway Park: on July 6, 2009 Last night Garciaparra came back to Fenway for the first time in five years. He was showered with even more love, just as he was for his entire Red Sox career. When he stepped into the box to face John Smoltz at 7:27, you would have thought Bill Russell and Bobby Orr had been introduced. The standing ovation was long and loud.

Only 4 more days until Truck Day! Spring Training is almost here!

Tim should always have a spot with the Sox

Wakefield will have a job… perhaps out of the ‘pen, but as we know, ‘Wake is the only player in baseball who will go where is needed and not make a fuss. (This is a comment left to me on my blog yesterday, I love Tim, I hope he continues playing, but if it is a coaching job, so be it, the Sox should not let go of such a valuable asset)

It’s easy to label Tim Wakefield somewhat delusional for believing he should have a spot in the Red Sox’ crowded starting rotation( Eric Wilber, Boston.com)

After the way Tim pitched last year, why is it delusional to believe he has a spot the the rotation? I think Dice K should watch out. If he can’t step up and take command, Tim could slip right in.

I have known some players and read and watched an awful lot and Tim Wakefield is probably one of the best.  I don’t mean the way he pitches, which I have no problem with, I love a good knuckleballer, I mean in the sort of person he is.  You don’t see him trying to sway votes on election day, just because he is a Red Sox Pitcher he does not have the ego that says ” People have to listen to me, because I know what I’m saying”.

I am praying he does so well at Spring Training they have to give him a spot.

I know it appears I am on a rant today, well maybe I am, I don’t like reading negative things about one of my favorite players.

I have received some really nice comments on my blog this past week from people other than Red Sox fans.  As a person who loves baseball, and really likes a lot of different teams, please leave me your email address when you leave a comment, sometimes I want to reply and can’t.

9 days till truck day!!
