Truck Day is Here!!
Not a big deal you say, Well then you don’t live in Boston! Truck Day is the Start of The Baseball Season, it also means Spring is just around the corner!
It’s not like we don’t like winter in New England, but Mother Nature has been cruel to us this year and I think everyone is looking forward to Spring.
The Pitchers and Catchers have already started arriving in Fort Myers.
As I look out at that cloudy sky, through the snow flakes, I know there is hope! ” It’s Truck Day”!

Maybe a trip to West Coast is what Dice K needed
Good game last night, Dice K pitching like the old Dice K!
thanks to Matsuzaka, the Red Sox remained only 3 1/2 games behind.
Funny thing with all the injuries my 9 year old Granddaughter knows more RedSox players and positions than I do.
A reporter for the Sunday Herald Ray Borges did a full page on Mike Lowell and him sitting around the dugout just waiting to be traded. I know it’s probably true, but I hated the way the story read. Kind of like kicking the dog when he’s down. I love Mike, but enough, I wish they would decide what they are going to do and do it.
This is probably the first year since I started watching baseball that I don’t have a favorite player. Of course there’s always Wakefield, but he’s getting old, and I think Tito expects too much from him.

Big Papi!
It’s what the game is all about
Let’s just forget about yesterdays game, (except for the part where Wake pitch in 3000 innings) and go back for a day to Saturdays game when the Sox brought up a rookie to play out field.
Unlikely he would do much, It was an irony that he even played in the minors, never mind the majors, and now Daniel Nava’s name is in the history books! How great can he be feeling, his first shot at Fenway park ( a dream he never expected to come true) and he hits a grand slam! Kudo’s Daniel, hope you have more time on the green fields of Fenway.
Mom and dad arrived just in time to see their son become the newest Fenway folk hero. How proud they must be.
How about those Celtics?? I have no right staying up that late to watch a game, but boy am I glad I did. Back to L.A. and hopefully we can clean it up with just one game.
And speaking about the Celtics how about the Patriots star Quater Back huging Colby after we lost to the lakers at the Fleet Center? It’s bad enough he wears a Yankee hat, but hugging the enemy on our turf. Despicable! Did he forget who supports him? Maybe Boston needs a new quarter back?

Papi’s coming back
Well at least Big Papi had a decent weekend. 2 homeruns, one off a left hander.
What is with the pitching staff? Are you aware that Jon Lester, John Lacky, and Clay Buchholtz wives are all having babies this summer? and Jonathan Paplebon’s wife just had a baby. Do you think there is a connection with this and the crappy way they all have been pitching? You would think they could plan things a little better? And Dice K and Beckett? What is there problem?
I think there should be less said about Big Papi, Mike Lowell, and Tim Wakefield and more said and done with the Pitchers!
On the other hand i’m liking Scott Schoeneweis. PV’s he has a really good year.

Well deserved rest
Scott who?
Scott Schoeneweis allowed no runs and one strikeout in one inning. In the opening game against the NY Yankees most of the relief pitchers got a shot, but after reading a blog from http://www.toeingtherubber.com about him this weekend, I was kind of anxious to see him pitch.
I need a photo of him in a red sox uniform)
I want him to do well. I would really like all of Red Sox Nation to get behind him. I think right now he needs the support.
Standing Ovation for Mike Lowell last night. Made me cry,
and Pedro throwing out the first pitch made me smile!
In other opening night news, The Red Sox Won!! Okijima got the win. 9 to 7 definetly a hitters game. That’s okay, we will take the win anyway we can. And I’m sure the weather helped. It was unseasonably warm for the first week in April. Hope it last all week.
Day off today, and I think everyone needs it. Tomorrow back to Fenway and the Yankees.

Opening Day is almost here
It’s just 6 days until the opening game of the season,Terry Francona will use five starters: Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Tim Wakefield, and Clay Buchholz. That sounds really good! The only thing that could be better would be a strarting opening day of oh, let’s just say April 23 at 1:00 at Fenway. By the end of April the weather should be really nice, and opening day should always be in the afternoon.
Mike Lowell is really having a tough time. Not that he is complaining, he is not that kind of guy. His knee is swollen and he has not and probably won’t have enough at bats to start in the opening game. He will probably come up to Boston on the disabled list. Again not that he is complaining. He knows his limitations.
Games haven’t started and I have already gotten a couple of tickets. It’s nice, but there is no way I am going to Fenway in April. My daughter will enjoy the tickets, Thanks P.N. but next time July. Please.

The face that makes me smile ; )
The Astros seem to have their eye on him now that lance Berkman has had knee surgery. That’s okay Mike, at least you will be playing ball!
Thousands of tickets are still available for the Red Sox home opener against the Yankees. Are we suppose to be surprised? Easter Sunday Evening Game, what the he77. It seems to be a little early for opening day, April 4th, maybe not, but in Boston come sundown it gets pretty cold this time of year. You would not catch me sitting in Fenway Park freezing. Why does MLB let the TV people make up the schedule?
It’s been raining for 2 days and cold. We can just hope that changes between now and opening day.

Some of my Favorite Spring Training Photos
(photos from Boston.com)
13 days until Opening Day. Red Sox v/s Yankees. Sounds like a great game except for the fact that it will be a night game on Easter Sunday. April 4th is a little cold to be at a night game at Fenway.
If your looking for Tickets word is there are plenty.
